NDT Methods: Liquid Penetrant
Testing is a non-destructive means of location and determining the
severity of surface discontinuities in materials, based upon
capillarity. Capillarity or capillary attraction is the action by
which the surface of a liquid, where it is contact with a solid, is
elevated or depressed. The materials, processes and procedures used
in Liquid Penetrant testing are designed to facilitate capillarity
and to make the results of such action visible and capable of
					interpretation.

It is used to test a variety of both metallic and
non-metallic materials such as welds, forgings, castings, plastics
and ceramics, etc., economically revealing surface discontinuities.
